HOW IT WORKS
Measured first, then removed
1 · MeasureYour file is scanned second by second and the quietest passages are taken as the real noise floor. A fixed setting cannot work, because every room is noisy at a different level.
2 · RemoveAn FFT denoiser is aimed at that measured floor, followed by a broadband pass for hiss. The stronger settings simply aim higher above the floor.
3 · VerifyThe finished file is measured again, so the decibel figure you see is the real difference between the two files — not an estimate.
What it cannot doSteady noise comes out well. A door slam, a dog or someone talking over you is not steady, and no filter of this kind removes it.
About the loudness optionNormalising after cleaning applies gain to everything left, including the residual noise, and its dynamic stage lifts the quiet passages most. Measured on a test file: signal-to-noise improved 11.1 dB with it off and only 2.2 dB with it on. Clean here, then normalise in the Podcast Audio Studio, which measures twice and corrects.
